The new One Drop Küntosh 5000QV, released January 2017, is a redesign of the original Küntosh. If you collect yoyos, they make a great addition to a yoyo collection as a pair.
One of the biggest differences of the new One Drop Küntosh 5000QV is it's machined from 7075 aluminum alloy. Aluminum 7075 is a more dense and heavy alloy than the 6061 aluminum used on the original. The resulting weight of the redesign is one gram lighter on the scales. But, this number doesn’t mean much until you get the yoyo in your hands and see the difference in weight distribution and thinner walls.
During play, you’ll find that the 5000QV has more of commanding spin than the original, making it very controllable with fast speed. The bead blasted finish on the redesign of the Küntosh 5000QV is a smoother hardcoat and is great for longer grinds and finger spins. The inner surface of the cup is smoother than the original, making finger spins more favorable.
The soul of the original Küntosh still resonates within the 5000QV, it’s just going to have a more horsepower. The outcome is a yoyo with more speed, but is still nimble on the string.
First run features Desert Drifter, Racing Red, Streaking Silver and Burnout Blue.
The Küntosh 5000QV is an unresponsive yoyo. A bind is required to wake this yoyo and return to your hand. If you don’t know how to do a bind or don’t want to learn, you may want to look for a responsive yoyo.
