The DV888 yoyo stems from the Fundamentals series, which belongs to the one of the most highly praised yoyo manufacturers of this decade, the YoyoFactory. It was inspired by a previous yoyo from the now defunct Buzzon company, but it has undergone a serious tune-up, with many improvements.

This is NOW a responsive yoyo. That means that it will wake up when you throw a sleeper. A simple tug of the string will bring it back to your hand. If you take out the responsive bearing and add a non-responsive (large C bearing) to make it a unresponsive yoyo. Here is a link for the kit to make the DV888 unresponsive. 

If you look at the wide, flared shape of this yoyo, you'll see that it has a very substantial rim, which gives it a long spin time because of the physics of putting more weight at the outside edge of a spinning object.

YoYoFactory went all out on this design, with the goal of creating the best performing metal yoyo on the market that also has a low price point that makes it achievable for almost any budget. We think that they nailed it! This yoyo performs as well as any $100 and up yoyo, for less than half the price.

They used a very high grade 6061 type of aluminum, to achieve the right weight ratio as well as a high level of durability. The aluminum is anodized, which gives it various colors and also makes it smooth for reduced friction when you are doing "grinding" types of tricks where you make the yoyo sleep against your skin.

YoYoFactory has quite a few patented high tech yoyo technologies that no other manufacturer is allowed to use without licensing the patent. Many of these patents are only used on their most expensive models. But with the DV888 they decided to include all of the high tech features that you would otherwise never be able to get on a yoyo in this price range.

If you are buying a yoyo, don't forget to buy a yo-yo trick book to carry with you, a yoyo trick DVD for at home, and extra yoyo strings. Learning new tricks makes yoyoing much more fun, and you'll need extra strings, because they wear out with regular use.

For being one of the most affordable metal yoyos from the Yoyo Factory, the DV888 yoyo has some killer features. It has a flared gap shape. The DV888 uses a silicone pad response system, which is considered both the standard and the ideal system for non-responsive yoyos. This yoyo is NOW designed for the Beginner to expert level yo-yoing.

The diameter of the DV888 is slightly smaller at 50 mm, which gives it a very comfortable hand feel and a terrific weight to size ratio that will give you superior performance compared to other yoyos of the same size. The rim weighted shape that we told you about before is a big part of this better performance. In addition to the long spin times, it also adds a level of stability that many smaller yoyos do not achieve.
